I have to be the voice of dissent and say that I didn't much care for this. Roger Deakins' superb photography and Tommy Lee Jones' grilling performance were the best of it, but I found it less engaging than many other Coens films.
could watch this movie without the sound, such visual storytelling... intense, atmospheric and gripping
It's funny you should say that about watching without sound. One of my favorite things to do is listen to movies while I work (only those I've watched countless times). And one thing I noticed about listening to this movie is that it can go a minute or two without dialogue! Ha. I never really noticed because, as you said, the brothers do such amazing visual storytelling.

It's definitely my favorite film by the Coen brothers...I'm not too big on their comedies.

It's my second favorite after Fargo...and it's got two double beds! Bardem was a beast in this.

(SPOILERS)
Enjoyed the film - but I didn't like the off screen fate of one of the major players.
